Bijni,
14th August, 20XX: As part of the World Water Day Celebrations on the
13th August, 20XX, a seminar on conservation of water was held at Netaji
Vidyapith HS School. The main aim of this seminar was to generate
awareness about the need to minimize the wastage of water and ensure its
conservation in the best possible ways. The world is going to face a
serious scarcity of water in the coming decades. The distinguished
guests present at the occasion focused on the need and methods of
conserving water. 'Rainwater harvesting' was suggested by an
environmentalist as one of the best ways to conserve water .The use of
visual aids for discussing the topic was a central attraction of the
seminar. Emphasis was given on making a judicious use of water without
compromising with its availability for future generations. The
consumption and use of water should not exceed its capacity for natural
replacement. The seminar was concluded on the note that each drop of
water is precious and the present generation should leave no stone
unturned in reducing its misuse so that optimum use of water is ensured.
3.
The Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri has banned the use of plastic bags
everywhere in the district. However due to a lack of mass awareness
about the damage caused by plastic, people are making a mockery of the
ban. Write a newspaper report in 100-125 words on the violation of the
ban and the environmental hazards caused by the use of plastic.
Answer:. Environmental Hazards of Plastic Bags
By: XYZ, Staff Reporter
The Times of India
The
use of plastic bags was banned by the Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri a
year ago. However instead of complying with the order, people are seen
violating the order everywhere. The habit of using plastic bags and
disposing these in the drains is going on unabated. This has resulted in
the problem of water-logging. The non-biodegradable nature of plastic
is a serious threat to our environment and it is responsible for
degeneration of soil and pollution of natural resources of the earth.
The act of incinerating plastic bags which releases toxic gases, is not a
solution to the problem. It takes around several hundred year for
plastic to decompose and the plastic rubbish generated on daily basis is
almost impossible to get rid of. The efforts of the government to
mitigate the severe threat of plastic will go in vain, if the people
continue to be indifferent and unsupportive.
