I. 1. How old are Margie and Tommy?
Ans:- Margie and Tommy are eleven and thirteen years old respectively.

2. What did Margie write in her diary?
Ans:- In a tone of surprise, Margie wrote in her diary that Tommy found a real book that day.

3. Had Margie ever seen a book before?
Ans:- No, Margie had never seen a book before.

4. What things about the book did she find strange?
Ans:- The things that she found strange about the book, were its words that stood still instead of moving. Moreover the words remained same on being turned back to the previous page.

5. What do you think a telebook is?
Ans:- I think a telebook is a virtual book whose pages appear on the screen of a television or a computer.

6. Where was Margie's school? Did she have any classmates?
Ans:- Margie's school was right next to her bedroom. No, she did not have any classmates.

7. What subjects did Margie and Tommy learn?
Ans:- Margie and Tommy learned subjects like Geography, History and Arithmetic.

II. 1. "I wouldn't throw it away."
(I) Who says these words?
Ans:- Tommy says these words.
(ii) What does it refer to?
Ans:- It refers to the old printed book found by Tommy.
(iii) What is it being compared with by the speaker?
Ans:- It is being compared with telebooks by the speaker.

2."Sure they had a teacher, it wasn't a regular teacher. It was a man."
(i) Who does 'they' refer to?
Ans:- 'They' refers to the students of our generation.
(ii) What does 'regular' mean here?
Ans:- 'Regular' here means the robotic teachers who are always accurate and punctual.
(iii)What is it contrasted with?
Ans:- It is contrasted with teachers who are human beings.A man is not as accurate and punctual as a robotic teacher.

III. 1. What kind of teachers did Margie and Tommy have?
Ans:- Margie and Tommy had robotic types of teachers who used to appear on the television screen always at the same time. Sometimes these teachers had to be technically adjusted according to the age and ability of the students.

2. Why did Margie's mother send for the County Inspector?
Ans:- Margie's mother sent for the County Inspector because Margie was unable to make any progress in Geography. The mechanical teacher was giving her test after test in Geography and her performance was going from bad to worse.

3. What did he do?
Ans:- The County Inspector smiled at Margie and gave her an apple. Then, he took the mechanical teacher apart and put it together after checking it.

4. Why was Margie doing badly in Geography? What did the County Inspector do to help her?
Ans:- Margie was doing badly in Geography because it was geared a little too quick.
The County Inspector made necessary changes to make it suitable to the age and ability of an average ten-year-old student.

5. How does Tommy describe the old kind of school?
Ans:- Tommy describes the old kind of school as a special building where children from the nearby are as gathered and learned the same things. The students were very happy in those schools.
 
6. How does he describe the old kind of teachers?
Ans:- He describes the old kind of teachers as human beings who told the students things, gave them homework and asked them questions.
