Ans:- When Abdul Kalam was reading in the fifth standard at Rameswaram Elementary school one incident took place. Abdul Kalam and his friend Ramanadha Sastry wore their religious outfit. Abdul Kalam wore a cap and his friend wore the sacred thread. These showed them as a Muslim and a Hindu. They used to sit in the first row in the class. The new teacher did not like it. He could not tolerate that a Muslim boy sat by the side of a Hindu boy. He asked Abdul Kalam to go and sit on the back bench.

Ans:- Abdul Kalam's science teacher was Sivasubramania Iyer. He was a high-caste Brahmin and he belived in equality. He did not want to create any differene among cast and creed. His wife was very conservative. But Sivasubramania lyer did his best to break social barriers. One day he invited Abdul Kalam to his house for a meal. His wife refused to serve Kalam in her kitchen. Then lyer served Kalam with his own hands. He also sat down beside him to eat his meal.

The new teacher regretted for his behaviour. The strong sense of conviction of Lakhmana Sastry reformed the new teacher.
